Our meticulously designed course features Blue, Yellow & Red tees positioned strategically year-round. These tees provide juniors with the opportunity to conquer distance challenges while enjoying heightened success and maintaining a swift pace of play.

At Somersett Golf & Country Club, our mission is to cultivate an environment of enjoyable, family-friendly golf where every player can flourish. Join us and discover the perfect blend of skill-building and fun on the green.

Little People Golf

Ages 3–6

Little People Golf is designed for children ages 3–6 as an introduction to the game in a fun, low-pressure environment.

Each one-hour session includes 30 minutes on the driving range, a short snack break, and 20 minutes of short-game activities.

A parent or guardian must remain present to ensure a safe and comfortable experience. Our goal is to help young players feel at ease and begin developing a lifelong connection to the game.

Junior Golf

Ages 7–12

For golf instruction, we utilize the US Kids Golf Program, which helps juniors reach their full potential through a clear, level-based progression.

Students earn achievement pins by demonstrating proficiency in key skill areas, including putting, chipping, pitching, full swing, rules and etiquette, scoring, and sportsmanship.

Blue, Yellow, and Red tees are available year-round to ensure appropriate course length, promoting confidence, success, and faster play in a fun, family-friendly environment.

Teen Golf

Ages 13–17

Teens benefit from a program designed specifically for their age group, allowing them to learn and grow alongside their peers.

This curriculum builds on our successful junior golf program and emphasizes putting, chipping, pitching, full swing, rules, etiquette, scoring, on-course performance, and sportsmanship.

Participants receive both group and individual instruction tailored to their skill level, with activities such as skill challenges, on-course learning, video swing analysis, and themed range nights.

More Than Swing Mechanics

Fitness • Confidence • Character

Each class incorporates Junior TPI exercises and reinforces the nine core values emphasized by the First Tee.

Fitness and character development remain central pillars of our junior programming, helping young golfers grow both on and off the course.

Whether a student is brand new to golf or preparing for competitive play, our programs are designed to support progress in a positive and encouraging way.

Featured Junior Opportunities

PGA Junior League

Join the team, play with friends, and learn the game with expert coaching. Somersett continues its strong PGA Junior League tradition with teams for ages 8–13 and, for the first time, ages 14–17.

We are excited to welcome local Reno/Carson clubs and build a weekly practice session this year for both our junior league teams. When you join PGA Jr. League, you become part of a nationwide program with more than 500,000 participants and a tradition of fun, teamwork, and those well-known numbered jerseys.

For more information, contact Stuart in the Golf Shop. Sundays are typically match days for our 13U team, while the 17U team generally plays Thursdays through July.

Performance Golf

This program emphasizes both fun and education in a more in-depth format designed for juniors who are ready to learn what it really takes to improve.

Each week includes on-course strategy, shot selection, green reading, uphill and downhill lies, and on-course scenarios you simply cannot learn on the range alone.

Designed for junior golfers who want to excel and possibly compete, this program will be limited in size to maintain quality instruction and individual attention.

Somersett Girls Golf Program

This summer academy is designed specifically for the middle school and high school girl golfer.

The program gives girls the chance to compete and improve together in a supportive, peer-based setting while staying ready for school-season play.

This academy will meet weekly prior to the high school season start and continue through the season with practice support, course training, and tournament preparation.

Events, Camps & Play Days

We offer at least two clinics per month, along with engaging play days that lead to prizes from the Garrison Consulting Prize Basket.

Families can also look forward to Parent-Child events, a July camp week, and a fun pizza night on the range.

Our Junior Club Championship will be held during the first week of August, creating a memorable finish to another exciting season.
